The brief was to produce a book that would be an impressive memento of an impressive centenary, a book that could be opened anywhere and immediately catch the reader's interest. Clients and employees alike should be involved with the text and images and the book should be an artefact in itself, a valued possession.
The experienced author interviewed past and present staff and Board, delved into local and national archives, wrote a chronological history but also dealt with specific episodes in the centenary that made stand-alone intriguing subjects.
The images were researched thoroughly for exact historical provenance and scanned to the highest level of reproduction.
The jacket, very much the inspiration of the Chairman and Managing Director, is uniquely produced with lamination only used as a highlight on the tyres, an image with immediate impact.
The deadline of the Farnborough Air Show was achieved with concentrated team work between Dunlop Aircraft Tyres and the BPC team to allow for last minute changes and additions, and the project took some fifteen months from concept to publication.
285 x 235mm; hardback; 96 pages in full colour plus full colour jacket with 160 images
